Morning Surgery - new style
We run an open morning surgery. Please telephone the surgery between 8.30am and 9.45am to request an appointment. You will be offered the choice of telephone call back or face to face appointment. Our telephonist will help to guide you which is more appropriate depending on the nature of your problem. You will be booked in for an appointment that morning. The appointment may be with a GP or an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, again the telephonist will help guide you to the best clinician to deal with your particular problem.
- Ring the surgery to register your request for an appointment between 8.30am and 9.45am
- In order to direct your consultation efficiently to the most appropriate clinician you will be asked for brief details of your symptoms. You can decline to give details if you wish.
- Please note that our telephone number will show as withheld or private if you are having a call back. Please be ready to take the call as our Doctors are spending a lot of time ringing patients multiple times when they could be consulting more patients.
- We are experiencing increasing numbers of patients phoning after 9.45am requesting a same day call back. This is putting a great deal of pressure on the surgery and planning the rest of the Doctors' day. We request that you respect the service we provide and ring at the allotted time or wait until the next morning. You will be offered a pre-bookable afternoon appointment (not necessarily the same day)or you have the option of phoning the next morning before 9.45am
- In the event of staff absence we may need to limit patient numbers for morning surgery. This may mean we need to close morning surgery earlier than 9.45am on some days. You may be advised to ring 111 or ring the surgery the next morning if this is the case.
You can help us by:
- Being on time for your appointment. Please note if you are late for your appointment you may be asked to rebook.
- Phone between 8.30am and 9.45am for a same day appointment - not later
- Letting us know if you need to cancel an appointment.
- Requesting a home visit before 10.00am.
- Call between 11.00am and 12 noon for test results (01630 685230).

Hodnet Medical Centre is pleased to provide patients with access to its Clinical System via a Secure Web Interface. You can view, book and cancel your appointments online. If an appointment shows as telephone but you would rather have face to face (or vice versa) please telephone the surgery as we can probably adjust this for you. The online system will only show appointments 2 weeks in advance. Please phone us if you need to book further ahead than 2 weeks.

Home Visits
Our doctors typically see four patients in the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. If tests are required we are able to many of these straight away if you are at the surgery. For these reasons we ask our patients to come to the surgery if at all possible. However, we can visit at home if your condition means you cannot attend the practice. Please ring before 10am if possible to speak to a doctor if you feel your condition is urgent, requiring a home visit.
