Dispensing
Hodnet is a dispensing practice, where most patients are able to get their medicines direct from the surgery. This facility is dependant upon your address. If you live within one mile of a pharmacy, then it will not be possible to dispense your medication from the surgery. If you need regular medication you may arrange to receive repeat prescriptions after discussion with your Doctor. Please remember to mark the items that you need.
In line with National policies it is our policy to issue repeat prescriptions for 28 days at a time ie. one original pack. This may be for longer if, for example, the smallest original pack is 3 months supply. The NHS recognises that 28 day prescribing interval makes the best possible balance between patient convenience, good medical practice and minimal drug wastage.
Repeat Prescriptions
When ordering repeat medication we need at least 3 working days notice. Please note Thursday afternoon is half day so does not class as a whole working day. Requests are usually processed at 10am and 4pm, therefore if you place your online order after 4pm this will be processed at 10am the next day which is when the 3 working days will begin. There may be occasions when we are unable to have your prescription ready within 3 working days due to unforeseen absences or delays with orders being received. If his happens we will give you the signed prescription to take to a chemist of your choice.
After a given number of repeats, you may be asked to see your doctor for a review.
New patients must be seen by the doctor before medication can be prescribed.
If you are on regular medication, you will be given a repeat prescription form, which you can then use to order your next issue, by leaving it at reception, or posting it to us. However the most effective way of ordering is to order online (see below)
We are not able to accept requests for repeat prescriptions by telephone or email.

Please make sure you have an alternative method of payment just in case (cash or cheque) as our reception and dispensary staff cannot release goods that are not paid for.
